INTRODUCTION
------------------
Qualitative Studies on English Language Teacher Development presents a collection of qualitative research carried out in the field of teacher development. Various qualitative data collection techniques are utilized in the studies, such as semi-structured interviews, written document analysis, open-ended items, stimulated recall, observations and reflective writing/journals. Using these qualitative tools, the authors in this book investigate and report numerous aspects of teacher development, encompassing teacher decision making, reflective practices, e-portfolios, classrooms discourses and practices, communities of practices and workplace organizational practices. These are examined from various perspectives and are situated in different settings (by both Malaysian and international researchers) and hence lead to an exciting mixture of the reification of new knowledge and the eventual proliferation of knowledge. It is hoped that this book will pave the way for further research in teacher development in the near future.
