lol ... tells you how well-known the writer and the play is!
I believe the play was written for language learners and not as a play for an actual audience.
The script is clearly written in a manner that teachers can easily find teaching points.

Well, what I taught you and your classmates was to help you have an in-depth reading of the texts. As teachers, you will have to adapt to your students' levels and abilties.
FUN is indeed most inportant in the learning experience. I've written articles along these lines and have one called "Reading as a Pleasurable Activity".
There will be WOU workshops in Skudai (27 and 28 Feb.) - quite close to Batu Pahat!
Hope to see you some time, Alex.
Keep well.

Dear Dr. Edwin,

I am sure that those teachers had really enjoyed discussing and sharing experiences with you.

I have just participated a Kursus for new literature component starting this year. We were introduced with "FUN" teaching skills and activities and students will have "Fun" learning. We were told that there is no longer "Teaching Lit in Depth" like what Dr. Edwin had taught us last time.
I am quite sad about this as there is less underlying meaning conveyed in the text. But, Drama is introduced this year. For me, most of the poems, short- stories, novels and Drama are down to earth. Students will easily understand the text and i personally dont think that the texts will invoke thier thoughts.

Some of the activities were new to me as i didnt expose these at UPM. Quite fun for students but i think these activities could most probably carry out with intermediate to advanced students as there are more willing to participate when it comes to students centered atmosphere.

Therefore, i have to read the new texts again and adapt myself to the current trend of teaching Lit. However, i will try to train students to examine the language and enjoy the real Lit:-)

Best Regards,
Alex

"don't scream..." this was hilarious, Dr. Edwin! :D
really loved it!

Personally, I think what Digital age has brought forth is simply a new form of social isolation, masked behind plethora of virtual profile pictures, ever-growing sense of virtual self-presentation - perhaps cyber narcissism, and vague short forms of words (e.g., LOL, OMG, BRB, GTG, WND...!!!).
Take Twitter, for instance, I have been using it for a year or so, and have tweeted 194 times so far; I follow 55 and followed by 35. But wait, who is the target audience of my tweets? do I know them? do they know me? the answer is irrevocably funny, though, scary: NO!
I mostly tweet about the books I read - or have read, share personal "techie" views on different things, and, of course, follow a similar pattern of tweets.
Yet, I quite rarely receive relevant feedback on my tweets - aside from "thank you for the retweet" kind of reply that I receive very often.
It occurred to me that probably it's only me, and others may have a much richer form of feedback. Hence, I googled and gooogled, and finally found a couple of parodies on twitter and other social networks that really pinned the issue: where am I in this vast, void and murky space? simply a twitting voice heard by a couple, replied by none?

On the bright side, YES, I have found and connected with some of my friends with whom I lost contact since ... for ever, I presume! and YES, I have a feeling that I can get myself up to the very date by checking tweets, posts, and links shared on Facebook, yet I still deliriously crave for my voice?!
"Where art thou?"

By the way, what happened to the video of your presented paper? the one you said one of your ex-students agreed to upload on Youtube? couldn't find it anywhere!
